Most cashback is small. Here is where it isn't.
A cashback app pays you a slice of what a brand or store was going to spend on advertising anyway. That is the whole business model, and it explains why the money is real but modest: think dollars a month, not a side income.
The trick is matching the app to a purchase you were already making. Rakuten earns on planned online orders and pays quarterly once you clear $5. Fetch asks almost nothing (snap any receipt) and pays accordingly, about $1 per 1,000 points. InboxDollars pays small change for surveys and offers in your downtime.
Stack them. Rakuten on the online order, your card under it, Fetch on whatever receipt is left in your hand, and none of them cancels the others out. What breaks the math is buying something you didn't need because an app said 10% back. That's still a 90% loss.
